COAL + ICE is a documentary photography exhibition and climate festival coming to Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture, September 4-23, to amplify the conversation about climate change. The documentary photography exhibition is co-curated by Magnum photographer Susan Meiselas and renowned exhibition designer Jeroen de Vries, and features the work of over 40 photographers and video artists from around the world. COAL + ICE visually narrates the consequences triggered by the continued use of fossil fuels, following the trajectory of climate change from the dirty coal mines deep within the Earth, to the vanishing glaciers of the Greater Himalaya. The exhibition culminates in global consequences and an exploration of visionary solutions.
The U.S. premiere of COAL + ICE will include a three-week climate festival of music, spoken word, food, family activities, films, educational programming, and creative dialogue that invites diverse audiences to participate in a conversation about climate change.
The exhibition is free and open to the public Sunday-Thursday 10AM – 5PM, Fridays 10AM – 9PM, and Saturdays 10AM – 6PM. Please check the COAL + ICE website for the full schedule of events.
