Event Details

Global Paris country commitments are far behind science based goals.  According to the UN Environment Programme Gap report there is a gap of 50% or 11 Gigatons between current Paris Country commitments and 2030 emissions reduction goals.  We must find other ways to move climate solutions forward.  However, all across the world, at the city and community level bold actions are emerging.  Cities and communities are stepping up and setting bold goals and may be the hope in closing the emissions gap.  Our event will highlight stories where these local community efforts are making an impact and explore strategies local communities can use to move solutions forward.

We will explore examples of successful community engagement from community based efforts that have moved key climate policies forward to the emissions reduction potential of broad community engagement on the solutions pathway.   We will look at key strategies and the theory of change to provide participants with tools to take back to their communities to promote change.  We will highlight the importance of collaboration, relationship development and messaging.

Speakers and schedule will be posted soon (see Eventbrite listing for updates).  There will be a short reception following the event.
