Howard Wood: Marine Environmentalist , Diver & Campaigner. Lives on the Isle of Arran on the west coast of Scotland. Co-founder and Chair of COAST (Community of Arran Seabed Trust) Awarded an O.B.E. by H.M. Queen Elizabeth II for services to the marine environment. 2015 recipient of the Goldman Prize , often referred to as the Green Nobel, for his decades of work on marine conservation in Scotland.

Howard Wood spearheaded a campaign that established the first community-developed Marine Protected Area in Scotland, giving valuable protection to important sites of biodiversity such as Seagrass, Maerl, Kelp and Mud habitats, all which are very significant carbon stores. His decades of community action is now being emulated by many other Scottish coastal communities, all working hard towards achieving healthy seas, which are more resilient to the effects of climate change.
